Supplication Based on Dudjom Rinpoche’s Names

This supplication is based upon my, Dudjom Tulku’s, series of names.

When the sense faculties of your karmic body of habitual tendencies cultivated from the very beginning, first awoke, Lopon Ngak Chang, learned in the tantric activities, gave you the name Nyima Gyaltsen. To you I pray.

A dakini told your venerable father, member of the aristocracy, Jampal Norbu, a son greater than his father will appear known by the name foretold before your birth, Yeshe Dorje. To you I pray.

In Godavari, the ultimate secret place of deathlessness, Lotus-Born’s regent, Namkhe Naljor gave you the crown of an empowerment name, Jigdral Dechen Dorje Drakpo. To you I pray.

When you trained on the path of the conventional sciences under the foremost among the learned, noble, and excellent, the the supreme lord scholar called you the youth that delights Lotus-Born, Tsojung Gyepe Ngonme Dawa Sarpa. To you I pray.

The epitome of compassion, called Manju, conferred upon your mind the layman’s vows of individual liberation. At the completion of the ceremony, you were renowned as Gyurme Delek Chokle Nampar Gyalwa. To you I pray.

With the great bodhisattva, Ngawang Palden, you donned the armor of the supreme mind of awakening. At that time he named you Gyalse Lodro Drime Pende Dawa Osel Palbar. To you I pray.

Kind lord of the family, Ngedon Wangpo, had you enter Vajrayana’s great mandala. At the time of the empowerment as a close son, you were known as Dorje Du Tsal. To you I pray.

King and supreme guide, lord of the Dharma, Trulzhik [Rinpoche] had you gradually enter the pith instructions of the innermost secret heart essence. When he entrusted you with the oral transmission lineage, he called you Yanpa Lode. To you I pray.

Lotus Skull-garlanded Adept (Pema Totreng Tsal) with consort [Yeshe Tsogyal], who embodies all Buddha families, confirmed you as the great secret path’s charioteer. Through his prophecy, aspiration, and great name, extolling you as Drodul Lingpa. To you, I pray.

One bad person can possess many excellent names, yet whatever you call him, he’s still a vile old man. If I pray to you without hypocrisy, bless me that I accomplish your life story of liberation!

I, Jigdral Yeshe Dorje, wrote this in response to the faithful Tendzin Chopel’s request,
“You must definitely write verses of supplication to your entire series of names as a support for my faith.”

Dudjom Lingpa’s Song of Tantric Gathering

How wonderful!

The perfect time is the evenness of primordial purity;
The perfect place, Highest Pure Land, the dharmadhatu, the stainless
space of phenomena;
The perfect teacher, dharmakaya Buddha Kuntu Zangpo;
The perfect retinue, the Victorious Ones of the five families;
The perfect teaching, Secret Mantra’s vehicle.
Come to this tantric feast celebration, the display of all-encompassing
equal purity.
Next, the perfect time is in primordial purity’s vast expanse;
The perfect place, Mount Malaya’s peak;
The perfect teacher, the powerful Lord Vajradhara (Dorjé Chang);
The perfect retinue, the assembly of nirmanakaya’s magical displays;
The perfect sublime teaching, the direct path of primordially pure Great
Perfection.
Come to this tantric feast celebration to guide disciples.
Finally, in the time of the joyous fortunate age:
The perfect glorious place is Samyé and Lhasa;
The perfect teachers, Lotus-Born from Oddiyana and Vimalamitra;
The perfect retinue, the reincarnated king, subjects, scholars, and
accomplished masters;
The perfect teaching, the direct path of luminous Great Perfection.
Come to this tantric feast celebration of those fortunate in karma and
aspirations.
In the midst of this perfect present time of self-manifest reality,
The perfect teacher is the Lama who is one’s own awareness;
The perfect retinue, the fortunate gathering;
The perfect sublime Dharma, the direct path of the Great Vehicle.
Come to this tantric feast celebration of realization of the natural state.
May the power of the interdependent links I have made singing this
joyous song of experience
And the strength of profound wisdom’s and skillful means’ truth
Bring this feast’s magical display of this teacher and gathering of the
circle of disciples
To liberation together in the encompassing evenness of the immortal
vase body endowed with the six special qualities.
I make this prayer to accomplish the rainbow body’s great transference.

I, Dudjom Lingpa [Jigdral Yeshé Dorjé’s previous incarnation],
wrote this at yogi Karma Sönam’s request.
May this be virtuous!
May all be auspicious!

A Spontaneous Song of the Original State

A Prayer Calling the Master from Afar

Essence of awareness, changeless from the beginning, your fundamental nature free from elaboration
Abides as primordial purity, inner clarity, the youthful vase body.
Yeshé Dorjé, dharmakaya master, think of me;
Grant me your blessings that I gain great confidence in the view, I pray.

The nature of awareness, your unobstructed, integral union, an assemblage of light,
Abides as your display, the spontaneously present five certainties.
Déchen Dorjé, sambhogakaya master, think of me;
Grant me your blessings that I bring meditation’s great display to completion.

Compassionate qualities, your impartial wisdom free from extremes
Abides in the naked essence of pervasive empty awareness.
Drodül Lingpa, nirmanakaya master, think of me;
Grant me your blessings that I accomplish the enhancement of conduct.

In the original ground of one’s own awareness there is no movement or change.
Whatever arises is dharmakaya’s display, neither good nor bad.
Since my present awareness is the actual Buddha,
I have discovered the open relaxed master in the center of my heart.

Now that I realize that my original mind has the nature of my Lama,
I have no need for painful contrived prayers made with grasping attachment.
I relax freely in the natural settled state, uncontrived awareness,
And receive the blessings of the self-liberation of whatever arises, without fixation.

Activity will never accomplish enlightenment.
My analytic, mentally created meditation is a tricky enemy.
Now, with a madman’s abandon, I let my worldview collapse;
I will spend this human life within the nature of uninhibited naked rest.

Happy in whatever I do, a practitioner of the Great Perfection,
Joyful in any company, Lotus-Born’s descendant,
My lord protector, you are unrivaled, a great master treasure-revealer.
These teachings are matchless, the heart essence of the dakinis.

My heart’s gloom, great delusion, has lifted from where it lay
And clear light’s encompassing sun shines and never sets.
This, my good fortune, comes from your kindness, Lama, my true father.
Your kindness is unrepayable. Master, I turn my thoughts to you.

In response to my foremost vajra disciple Tulku Jigmé Chöying Norbu Tamché Drubpé Dé.
I, Jigdral Yeshé Dorjé, spoke this nonsense. May it prove virtuous!
