Tulku Jamyang Gyatso Rinpoche was born in U-Tog of the Nagchu region in Tibet to a nomadic Zhu family, accompanied by many auspicious signs. At the age of three, he was recognized as the reincarnation of Takring Jamyang Tenpai Gyaltsen Rinpoche by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
In 1959, following the Tibetan diaspora, Tulku Jamyang and his family settled in His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche’s community in Orissa, India, where he grew up under the guidance of many precious masters. He studied traditional Tibetan art for many years under Lama Pema Dorje Rinpoche and received special instructions from Lama Sherab Rinpoche. Later, he moved to Nepal, where he received empowerments and teachings from His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche, His Holiness Chadral Rinpoche, His Holiness Dungse Rinpoche, and other great lamas. During this time, he also had the great fortune to serve His Holiness Dungse Rinpoche for many years.
An accomplished artist in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, Tulku Jamyang Rinpoche’s works are renowned for their profound beauty and spiritual significance. His talent has been recognized by some of the most sublime masters of the Vajrayana tradition. Kyabje Chatral Rinpoche chose Tulku Jamyang to design Dudjom Rinpoche’s Ku-Dung stupa in Boudhanath, and Thinley Norbu Rinpoche selected him to create an important thangka. Additionally, Tulku Jamyang created the extraordinary Ku-Dung stupas for both Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche and Dungse Thinley Norbu Rinpoche at Pema Osel Ling.
In 1998, Tulku Jamyang was invited to Pema Osel Ling by Lama Tharchin Rinpoche, where he has since served as a resident lama. Tulku Jamyang Gyatso Rinpoche continues to preserve and enrich the Tibetan Buddhist tradition with profound dedication.
