Benefit of Paying Attention

Kyabje DoDrupchen Rinpoche with HH Dudjom Rinpoche III Sangye Pema Shepa

Putting aside the future and just thinking about our lives here and now, we can see the benefit of paying attention to how the mind works and of working to develop and train the mind. Someone whose mind is naturally virtuous and good is going to be someone who is completely relaxed, with a sense of openness towards him or herself. If that person has many nice things, she is completely happy and content. If she doesn’t have these things, she is also completely happy and content. Such people are very relaxed and easy going; they are comfortable with whatever circumstances arise. It’s said that when our minds are positive then everything that we experience is also positive.”

~ Dudjom Rinpoche III Sangye Pema Shepa

HH 4th Dodrupchen Rinpoche entered into Parinirvana 24th day of the 11th lunar month of Tibetan Calendar in Sikkim, coinciding with the Bodhisattava Sai Nyingpo Day.

The master of the Dzogchenpo Lineage, His Holiness Kyabje Dodrupchen Jigme Thukten Thinley Pelzangpo entered into Parinirvana and now in the state of thuk-Dam. The 4th Dodrupchen Rinpoche was born at daybreak on a special day in the year of 1927. A true Buddha in person and one of the most accomplished test humble yogis, Kyabje Rinpoche remained for 97 years in this world helping beings immeasurably through his vast wisdom mind and boundless compassionate activities.

H.H. 4th Dodrupchen Rinpoche was the principal lineage holder of the Longchen Nyingtik Cycle of Teachings (The Heart Essence of the Vast Expanse), a treasure teaching revealed by the esteemed treasure revealer, Jigme Lingpa. In his childhood, Dodrupchen Rinpoche manifested various awe-inspiring actions, which brought tears to the students of his predecessor. A spontaneous learner and leader, Dodrupchen Rinpoche accomplished all of his studies in the Sutras, Tantras and the Great Perfection with effortless ease. This was reflected in the words of his root Guru, Yukhok Chatralwa Choying Rangdrol, “Among hundreds of students who practice the Dzogchen, there is no one greater than you, my son.” Dodrupchen Rinpoche has also set foot on multiple lands around the world where he transmitted important teachings of the Nyingma lineage, the root volumes of Longchen Nyingtik, the essential empowerments of Dzogchen and many others.
