Dudjom Tersar Accumulation Sunday ~ January 17 ~ Update

Chatral Rinpoche
Chatral Rinpoche

Dear Ngondro Practitioners,

There has been a slight change in the scheduled Sunday accumulation event, Jan. 17, 2016, due to the parinirvana of Kyabje Chatral Sangye Dorje Rinpoche. Special Vajrasattva pujas have been scheduled in the shrine room from January 11 ~ 20   (more info).  Everyone is welcome to join us at any time

The pujas do not need to conflict with your accumulation practice. Lama Sonam Rinpoche has said it would be fine for you to come and practice your accumulations in the back room of the shrine during the Vajrasattva pujas that will be going on. You are also welcome to join us at any time for the puja itself.

This time, for the next several weeks, is a very important time to practice, to make offerings, to practice virtuous activities, and abstain from non-virtuous activities.

Everyone is welcome to join in the practice from  wherever you are, on Jan. 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. PT.

Dear Sangha and Friends,

When our teachers pass into parinirvana, this means that through their immeasurable compassion, they will be performing their wisdom activity in a different way. One of these activities is to remind us of the inescapable truth of impermanence – to compel us to practice seriously.

On December 30th, our most precious teacher, Kyabje Chatral Sangye Dorje Rinpoche, demonstrated for us this inescapable truth with the dissolution of his physical body into stainless Dharmakaya.

Even though on the ultimate level there is no separation, on the relative level we have deep sadness. We know that this is a great loss not only for us personally, but also for the entire world, as Rinpoche was a supreme holder of all Buddhist teachings, especially  those of vajrayana mahasandhi clear light.

For over a century, Rinpoche’s profound dharma activity to benefit sentient beings  flowed  without any obstacles or interruption, like a continuous rushing waterfall.

He introduced fortunate disciples from every corner of the earth, to their intrinsic nature of mind, revealing to them profound clear light wisdom. Through this compassionate and miraculous activity, he transformed many students into bodhisattvas and sublime beings.

Rinpoche continues to be the source of all merit for us, and all beings in these degenerate times. Through his compassion, at this time of his parinirvana,  we have an extraordinary opportunity  to connect with his wisdom mind and receive his blessings. We should recite prayers and do practice, such as Shower of Blessings puja, Tsok Kang Dechen with Tsok offerings, Vajra Guru or Vajrasattva mantra in order to remove our own obscurations and connect to Rinpoche’s profound wisdom nature.

Whatever practice we do, it should come from the depths of our heart, with the aspiration that, like our most kind, sublime teacher, Kyabje Chatral Sangye Dorje Rinpoche, we become enlightened for the sake of all suffering sentient beings.

 With Much Love,
Lama Sonam
